Alaçati History:
Alaçatı region used to be called "Agrilia" in ancient times. It was right at the center of the region of Ionia that extended from the immediate south of İzmir down to Büyük Menderes River. Ancient Ionian cities located the nearest to Alaçatı were the present-day depending village of Ildırı, called "Erythrai" in ancient times, the island of Sakız (Chios) and the part of Urla called İskele today, which corresponds to the area of the ancient site of "Klazomenai".

Wind Mill:
One immediately notices the old windmills on top of the highest hill within view in Alaçatı as soon as one enters the town. These windmills in stone were built between 1850-1900 to grind flour.
Presently, growing energy deficits and needs, with new technologies developping at the same time, compel decision makers in Turkey, along with those of other countries, to focus more attentively on energy sources management and to develop alternative sources rapidly.

Beaches and Windsurfing:
Two of the motives that brought Alaçatı to the status of Turkey’s favorite holiday resort in recent years is its world famous windsurfing spot and its beaches. ALAÇATI WINDSURF PARADISE The main bay lies at a distance of 4 km from Alaçatı center, and right beside Alaçatı yacht marina there is a shallow section approximately 500 m in width and 330 m in length.
